Assistant in Analytical Chemistry and Instrumental Analysis Methods at the Covilhã Polytechnic Institute (1976-1977)
 
Senior technician at the General Directorate of Hydraulic Resources and Assets (DGRAH). Worked in the area of industrial wastewater discharge control (1977-1986).
 
Senior technician at the General Directorate for Environmental Quality (DGQA). Worked in the area of the application of Community norms in the environmental field, specifically as regards marine pollution and the control of dangerous substances in the aquatic environment (1986–1990)
 
Head of the Department of Waste at the General Directorate for Environmental Quality (1990-1993).
 
Director of the Waste and Recycling Service at the General Directorate for the Environment (DGA) (1993-1997).

Member of the working groups responsible for drawing up the National Waste Plan and the Strategic Plans for the Management of Urban Waste, Industrial Waste and Hospital Waste.
 
While at the IRAR, coordinated the development of the responsibilities of the Competent Authority for the Quality of Water for Human Consumption (2003-2006). 
 
Member of the Inter-Ministerial Drought Committee in 2005. 

Member of the body responsible for monitoring and coordinating the NSRF's Territorial Enhancement Operational Programme (2008-2009).
 
Member of the body responsible for assessing the implementation of the Strategic Plan for Urban Solid Waste Management (PERSU II) for the 2007-2016 period.
